Travel on the Lake as of March 21, 2019

Peter Healy reports on his return to Garden Island on Thursday March 21st:

“The road to Bear Island is awesome this winter.  With all the snow I wonder how they were able to keep it so wide.  Once off the road however one can see the impact of all the heavy snowfalls.  Snowmobile tracks 12” high indicate some upcoming serious slush issues.  I estimate I am traveling on at least a foot of packed snow.  So sometime soon this is all going to melt to slush and I would not like to have to travel in that.  On the positive side there is  almost 3 feet of ice below me which will probably last until well into May.”
