It is once again that time of year for our watch on the lake ice and when we will see open water and boat travel. Peter Healy sends the first update.
“I returned to the lake yesterday in the rain. There is a lot of snow, much of which is now slush, on top of over two feet of ice. We have not seen the ice yet. I am told by “oldtimers” that the best guess for break up this year is probably May 15. With the Canadian long weekend only three days later access to all islands may not be possible.”
