Meet the Crew

Hello, my name is Adam Tretjack and I have been coming to Temagami since I was 8 months old and camping at Sandy Inlet with my parents and cousins.
My parents recently bought a cottage close to Bear Island and over the past ten years I have enjoyed actives like fishing, snowmobiling, sailing, boating, and doing many renovations to the cottage and various small builds on the property. I love fishing and the outdoors and Temagami has been crucial to the development of my skills in these areas. I am currently taking Fish and Wildlife at Sir Sandford Fleming and I am very excited to be able to apply the skills and knowledge that I learned in school to help protect the environment that I love.
My name is Diana Van Vlymen. I was born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario where I spent the first fourteen years of my life. I subsequently spent my high school years in Airdrie, Alberta after my parents’ jobs were transferred to downtown Calgary.
I am currently an honour student attending Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. I will return in September for my fifth and final year of a BScH program with an Environmental Science major and Life Sciences minor. I’ve spent much of the last 22 years on Lake Temagami, at the island my grandparents bought in Shiningwood Bay in 1964. I recall many fond memories of paddling around the lake on a piece of foam, picking blueberries, and learning to fish, kayak, and windsurf. Our cottage burnt down last summer as a result of dry lightning, but we plan on rebuilding it over the next few years, now that my parents have retired to Sudbury.
Temagami is one of my favourite places to be and I enjoyed working for the TLA last summer. I was chosen once again to be part of the TLA’S water testing team, and I am excited to be returning to your service for a second year. I look forward to meeting old friends and new at the Headquarters building and events this summer!
